Greek giant beans are traditionally make the much loved baked bean dish, simply called Gigantes (giants), but their buttery taste can also be enjoyed in salads, paired with seafood and veggies. 

Cultivation areas: Florina, Kastoria, Western Macedonia.

Cultivation: The lakeside areas of Kastoria and Florina are famous both in the country and internationally for the production of giant bean and giant elephant. The long tradition, the taste and the knowledge of the producers, the composition of the soils, the water volumes of the springs of Aliakmonas but also the mild, semi-mountainous climate of the region contribute to the production of a unique product.

Characteristics: Giant beans and giant elephants of Western Macedonia are a delicate, high quality Greek variety that requires a short cooking time. The size of the beans is relatively large, the shape is nephroid and their color is white. Their rich and special taste makes them pleasant to eat even without sauce.
